CSO in Boston

My NYC improv team, Casual Sex Offenders is up in Boston for the weekend. We are doing three (THREE!) shows at ImprovBoston. Yesterday was with the IB group Bastards, Inc.. Here’s the video evidence.

Editing

My film came back from Fotokem and I’ve been editing ever since.  I’ve been trying a few things that are new (to me): Cutting on Avid and starting the edit with the ending sequence and working my way to the front.  Being a Final Cut Pro kind of guy cutting on Avid is somewhat of a pain.  Starting with the end and moving back to the front seems to be working in my favor.  The photo below is from that ending sequence a couple days ago.  I’ve made significant progress since then.  This excites you.

Catching up: CSO at NCCAF

Way back in February (about two weeks ago) my improv group Casual Sex Offenders traveled to Carrboro, North Carolina for the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival to do a little bit of that old tyme comedy.

Space Shuttle Destroyed in Orbit

This is a fantastic visual effects video of a destroyed space shuttle orbiting Earth.  Apparently it was only made with some still images, photoshop and after effects.  Very impressive.  This guy should market himself to special effects houses.

Casual Sex Offenders

My improv group, Casual Sex Offenders, came to Boston on December 12th.  We did one of those shows we do.  You know, the ones with the laughs?  Allegedly.  Well, here’s the video evidence.

CSO, November-Style

My New York improv group Casual Sex Offenders do shows all the time.  Often multiple shows a week.  I’m rarely there due to the fact that I live in Boston.  Makes it tough to participate, you know?  However, every now and then I make the trip south to New York get onstage and do the funny.  This past Sunday was one of those times.

Casual Sex Offenders at Gotham City Improv

On September 19th I was back in New York and did another Casual Sex Offenders show this time at Gotham City Improv.  The video evidence is below.  Please note that there is a glitch in the clip towards the end.

I was a bit disappointed with my performance and felt we all did better in an earlier show.  There is a lot to be learned from this clip like how I need to be more aggressive with my backline support and commit to my characters more fully.  But I won’t bore you with that.  Instead I’ll bore you with this.

Casual Sex Offenders

On September 6th I was briefly back in New York City.  Why?  Well, to see my girlfriend, but also to do a show.  My new improv group, Casual Sex Offenders, had it’s first show that day at The Creek and The Cave in Long Island City, Queens.  This video is the unedited ~20 minutes set.  Yours truly first shows up about three and a half minutes in.  Enjoy.

Improv practice

Osama Bin Lovin Shoot 3/2/09: Before the shoot

A group of my fellow improv 201 students (Cecile, Dara, Jason, Austin, Shalyah, Brad, Esther, and Eric) got together to practice today.  This is only the second time we’ve had practice sessions outside of class (class itself ended nearly a month ago), but I already have a good feeling about these folks.  We’re going to get some interesting things done.

In other news: the infamous sketch video churns along slowly.  I hit a technical snag that has taken me a few days (on-going) to get sorted.  I really want to push this thing out the door, but I’m not going to do that until Greg and Anthony sign off on the whole thing.

Tomorrow is the next Society of Reasonable People™ meeting.  I decided to write my Zombies! script.  I have some of the first pages written and am quite interested in what people think.

I’m going to turn off some of the new plug-ins I installed because they just don’t fit the current look of this website.  As soon as I get around to redesigning the front page (no idea when that’ll be) I will bring some of those things back.

Video Scheduling

The next video review is scheduled for Saturday. I’m hoping to have this project approved so I can push it out the door for all of you to see. Cross your fingers, Anonymous Internet Reader.

October Twentieth

It took me forever, but I finally finished the Arlington video. A little background: My Grandfather, Gilbert Langford, died a year ago. During that October he was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. This is a short video of that event.

p.s. The improv show on Sunday went great. Because they don’t allow flash photography or video taping I have nothing to show you, though. Next time I will try to sneak someone in to get non-flash photos.

Filmmaking — Storyboard Edition

I can’t draw. That’s been proven time and time again. Yet I still do it. Below are some storyboards I made for our sketch video production meeting. They’re so awesome even a two-year old could do it.

Video to Cleanse the Palate

This is Not Safe For Work (NSFW) by every stretch of the imagination…it’s funny, though.

That was LazyTown, a kid’s show, and Lil Jon on Snoop Dogg’s Step Yo Game Up.

D.C.

I was in our nation’s capital over the weekend to see my late grandfather interned at Arlington cemetary. It was an awe-inspiring ceremony. Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures. But, I do have video. Unfortunately, that video is in my parent’s camera. But, I may be able to get that to you soon.

Also, I must apologize to my friend Phil who lives in the D.C. area. Sorry I didn’t call, Phil. My schedule was pretty tight. Regardless, I owe you a visit.

Holy crap! They’re making “Punch-Out!!” again!

If you were a kid in the late-80s – early-90s you must remember Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! (Later renamed Punch-Out!! after Mike Tyson got his rape conviction. However, Nintendo claims this is not why the game was renamed). If you don’t I feel sorry for you, dear reader. For those of you who do you will be thrilled (THRILLED, I SAY!) to know that Punch-Out!! is being remade for the Nintendo Wii. Check it out!

Also, you may enjoy this fan-made gem.

Governor Palin sure is something, ain’t she?

Hey Ash, Watcha playing?: Another video post

This will only make sense if you are familiar with Team Fortress 2.

There’s far more where that came from.
