I missed the Boston Marathon because I was shooting my scene for directing class. But I didn’t miss this.
Whoa! Go, Street Sweeper, Go!
My film came back from Fotokem and I’ve been editing ever since. I’ve been trying a few things that are new (to me): Cutting on Avid and starting the edit with the ending sequence and working my way to the front. Being a Final Cut Pro kind of guy cutting on Avid is somewhat of a pain. Starting with the end and moving back to the front seems to be working in my favor. The photo below is from that ending sequence a couple days ago. I’ve made significant progress since then. This excites you.

It’s Spring Break here at BU. But, I’ve been shooting movies the whole time so, no, it’s not spring break.. Not for me. Of course amongst those movies was my own film Happy Anniversary. It’s a dark comedy about a man trying to divorce his wife on their first anniversary. The shoot was one of the best directing experiences I’ve ever had. I still have to send my film to the lab for processing so perhaps my tune will change, but I still feel pretty good about.
I could have used the vacation, though.
There is allegedly some sort of storm for the ages heading towards Boston so school was cancelled half-way through the day. Yes, I’m rocking out to School’s Out by Alice Cooper.
This semester has been quite busy already and will remain so for at least another week. Sorry about the lack of posts.
On September 11th, 2001 I was a freshman film stduent at NYU. I lived at Carlyle Court which is on Union Square near 14th street and University Place. Class had started just one week earlier. Then on that Tuesday morning I stepped out of my dorm and saw this. These stills are taken from a video I shot that day. At the moment I can’t find the actual video.
The GREAT MOVE TO BOSTON has occurred and school has begun. Special thanks to my parents and my girlfriend Liz for making the move possible. Contained below are a few photos from my first week at BU. As usual, more photos can be found on my Flickr page.
I made another trip to Boston to put down my cash/money for an apartment. As has been the case recently my camera is still broken and I haven’t replaced it so I don’t have any fancy pictures to show you. So…here’s a street (commonwealth avenue):

The journey to Boston University inches ever closer. As of right now I have registered for classes, applied for a graduate assistantship, and gotten my financial information in. Of course I still need a BU-area apartment. Baby steps, people.
Baby steps.
I’ve officially registered for classes at Boston University for this coming Fall. Apparently I have Thursdays off. In entirely unrelated news I have my next improv comedy show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre tomorrow May 30th at 4pm. Tickets are $5.

Registered for Classes at BU
I was in Boston last week to start the apartment search. I didn’t find anything, but we got off to a good start. Hopefully I find some place to sleep before school starts. That would be nice.
Despite having my camera with me I didn’t take many photos while I was there. Plus amongst the few photos I took even fewer were any good. Here’s one:
Look at what came in the mail (er…FedEx). A free BU School of Communication track jacket. I’m a big fan of free stuff. Lemme tell ya…
It’s done. I have officially accepted Boston University‘s offer for admission into their master’s film production program in the school of communication. Come September 2nd I am back to being a student. For two years.
Then I’m back to being a layabout.

Boston University provided free food and drinks yesterday for those of us who we’re accepted in the New York region. Free Food. Free Drinks. They are making a strong argument.
In other news it is 37 degrees this morning.
In high school I applied to four colleges: USC, NYU, Northwestern University, and Boston University. USC and NYU accepted me while Northwestern and Boston did not. In the end I went to NYU. For grad school I applied to Northwestern University and Boston University once again (along with five other schools…). As you know Boston sent a false alarm in February. Well, now they’ve sent something else.
Looks like they came to their senses, eh? Now…where’s Northwestern?
My NYU interview went better than my AFI interview. That is all.
The AFI interview went okay. I feel like I could have done better, but I have to let that go and get ready for the NYU interview on the 10th.

Scratch CalArts off the list.
2 Interview requests: NYU and AFI
2 Rejections: UT-Austin and CalArts
3 Waiting to Hear From: Columbia, Northwestern, Boston University
As you no doubt have heard a million times I have applied to a billion grad schools. The fun never stops with this guy. Since I can tell by the smell of you that you are all hyper-intelligent super-babies you have no doubt experienced applying for college. And you remember, Super-Babies, that when you get a small envelope it’s a rejection letter and when you get a large envelope it’s an acceptance letter. About a month ago I got a small envelope from AFI. I feared it was a rejection letter.
It was a receipt.
Yesterday I got a small envelope from Boston University. I feared that this too was a rejection letter.
Stop toying with my emotions!
It looks like the transcript situation is resolved *crosses fingers*. At the very least I’ve done what I can about it. In other news I am giving serious thought to putting a new short film into pre-production. The script, The Cardboard Spaceship, was written for my application to Columbia. I ended up liking the whole thing and, at three pages, it seems doable.
Remember when I said I was gonna mail some applications this morning? Yeah…about that… I ran out of paper. I’m not sure why I didn’t notice this earlier, but I was fresh out of paper. Since I couldn’t print anything I couldn’t send anything out today. Fun. Of course, now I have paper and I will hit the post office Friday morning. Minor setback. Nothing too serious.
I hope
